Enhancing Event Photography Value
As a seasoned commercial and event photographer, I'm lucky to photograph different events weekly. My photography assignments range widely, from capturing corporate meetings and conferences to shooting dynamic awards dinners and other business-related events. With my commercial photographer hat on, headshots and other business-related portrait photography form a large part of my time also.
Over the past year, I’ve photographed many conferences and events, often soaking up information on diverse subjects such as medicine, real estate, the financial industry, bookkeeping, accountancy, forestry, agriculture and the wine industry, to name just a few.
Apart from picking up fascinating tidbits of knowledge, my work brings me into contact with numerous companies and event organisers. Each organisation has its unique way of doing things, but not all stand out in terms of getting the most from their conferences, seminars, and AGMs.
What Distinguishes the Top Performers?
Seizing Every Opportunity
The concept is straightforward yet impactful. When you’ve assembled all your key personnel in one venue and engaged a professional photographer to document the significant moments, it’s the ideal opportunity to enhance an often-neglected aspect of your business website: the "Team" or "Our People" section.
This section should ideally feature cohesive, professional profile photos of your senior management, department heads, and customer-facing staff. Unfortunately, it often becomes a mixed bag of images sourced from various places—some in colour, others in black and white, some outdated, and some showcasing inappropriate attire, all with varying resolutions. This inconsistency undermines the polished look of your website.
Does this resonate with you? Forward-thinking companies avoid this pitfall. They leverage events such as AGMs or annual sales conferences to refresh their professional headshots while all pivotal individuals are gathered. It’s a sensible approach that reflects a commitment to professionalism and unity.
The Plan
Just let me know in advance. I’ll bring extra equipment, like a backdrop, lighting and all the other gear needed to take professional photos of your team. While guests are chatting, I can quickly and efficiently capture new headshots. Depending on the size of your team, this can be done in managed time slots, breaks, or more ad-hoc during the event. Let me know what works best.
In Conclusion
To truly maximise the value of your next conference or AGM, consider using the event as an opportunity to update your team’s headshots. This small step ensures that your company’s online presence remains current, consistent and professional.
So, for your next corporate gathering, remember to optimise your headshot session and elevate your company's presentation with my photography expertise.
The headshots above are a small sample of some which were captured recently at a conference I photographed on Auckland. No matter what the location, I’ve got you covered!
